Specializing In:
*Cultivating Dreadlocks - For my beginners, I offer expert hands on loctician services. I offer the coil twisting, palm rolling, dread perms and professional loc extension techniques. ($50 on up). Prices vary depending on how long or thick your hair already is and what I have to do to start or maintain them. You will need an 1"- 2" of hair if it is tight and kinky to start the process. 3"-5" inches if your hair is loose and curly. About 6 inches if your hair is straight and or wavy. This does include most perms if you are attempting to grow them out. Hair locks because of shedding and by not combing, brushing or washing the loose hairs out. You normally lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. Over a period of time this all adds up. I use this to my advantage to put you on the accelerated path to natural dreadlocks. As a style at first, I coil and if necessary backcomb the hair using a rat tail comb, some natural but very powerful essential oils and my own technique. After some weeks as it starts to grow it will bud, swell and sprout and look a bit scraggly. This is a necessary stage & precursor to the beginning stages of your hair actually locking. To keep them attractive looking you will need to come in at first every 2-4 weeks depending on what you can stomach financially and fashionably. We can successfully lock any hair type but the length of time it takes for the hair to actually lock depends on the texture, your lifestyle, and patience.

* Dreadlock Extensions (Bornu Locs) - Bornu is an expert at applying wefts of kinky human hair extensions close to the root of the scalp in various sections & artistically creating a semblance of real dreadlocks. (starting $400-$800) Provide your hair with atleast 3-5 inches of growth kinky... 6 inches if permed, straight or wavy. The hair comes in various colors. One can buy several colors to add highlights or blend varying hair color. Thinning dreadlocks are a major concern. On how to repair, replace, add hair to thin dreads I can add hair to already existing locs to make them appear thicker or longer or both. You can start from a perm and get bornu locs. You can keep them in as a transitional style until your own hair starts to grow out and then cut them to the natural part of your locks or hair. The take down of Bornu Locs is labor intensive so you dont want to leave them in pass 2 months or they will become permanent. You can leave them in and continue to grow them out and into your own natural locks and continue to cultivate them like real dreadlocks. After a period of months your own hair will begin to mesh and blend into the bornu locs. My loc extension technique is very intricate and meticulous making it virtually undetectable. And Yes, they look very authentic like real dreads to help ease your concerns if they appear natural enough to pass as real dreadlocks. It takes anywhere from 6 to 12 hours. This depends on how long or full you want them. When going to bed, it is best to use a silk or satin pillow cover. Cotton or nylon is okay, you can just pick up a scarf or bonnet at your neighborhood beauty supply store. Do Not Pull your new Bornu Locs into a bun or braidstyle for atleast 3 months. You will only pull the extension out! You do not need any additional products to put on your Bornu locs other than a light sheen for shine. Let them dry out a bit by not putting in any grease or oil until the locking process has commenced. For the scalp, I recommend putting some witch hazel in a spray bottle and add some drops of tea tree or peppermint, shake it up and lightly mist your locs twice a day. Let them air dry hence this will help tighten the locs as they revert and kink up with your own hair. Witch hazel is basically rainwater extracted from tree bark. Pure and inexpensive. Look on my calendar to schedule your next visiting appointment for maintenance which should be in about a month. Then we will discuss different variation of styles.

Before you leave you will be given instructions on how to maintain the health and beauty of your dreadlocks until your next appointment.
Your 2nd visit must be followed up with a libation of purified water filled with essential oils like sage, lemongrass, sandlewood and peppermint to sooth the scalp from any itching that may have occured as a result of the hair being soiled from perspiration and dirt. The hair must be put back in its place by palm rolling each dreadlock back onto the base of the scalp. You will be placed under a warm dryer and given instructions on what to do during those mean time in between time stages. You can expect your dreads to swell up at this stage. This is a precursor to the sprouting stage of dreadlocks. You should come in about every 2 to 4 weeks. Give the dreadlocks or loc extensions a chance to mature. It is like pouring concrete. You have to give them a chance to advance thru the various stages. When you come in this time a lite scalp massage with tea tree shampoo and hot oils are used to wash out, uplift, and manifest your dreadlocks to fashionable status.
Toward the 6th month your dreads should be well adjusted. You are instructed to set up an appointment with your Loctician 1 or 2 times a month depending on the texture of hair and how fast it grows.
